Dear PSSD Community,

Shane Paschall
We are off to a great start at PSSD! This year, our theme is “What you focus on grows.” Together, we will focus on building strong learning, positive habits, and success for every student. Parents, your support and involvement in your child’s education make a big difference, and we encourage you to stay engaged throughout the year. We look forward to a wonderful school year filled with growth and achievement!

Attendance Matters

As we settle into the new school year, I wanted to share this fact about attendance. "Absenteeism in the first month of school can predict poor attendance throughout the school year. Half the students who miss 2-4 days in the first month go on to miss nearly a month of school", (from https://www.attendanceworks.org/chronic-absence/the-problem/).

Also, being on time to school is just as important as attendance. For most students, when the school day begins, they will be in an academic class. If students are late, they are missing valuable instruction.

Please let me know if I can assist with attendance issues or questions concerning attendance.

Celebrating Our IMS Teams: A Shining Example of PSSD Pride

We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation and pride for our incredible IMS sports teams, cheerleaders, and band. Each of these groups has gone above and beyond in representing PSSD with excellence, spirit, and dedication.

Whether it’s on the field, on the sidelines, or in the stands, our IMS students have shown what it means to lead with character and teamwork. Our athletes continue to compete with determination and sportsmanship, our cheerleaders energize every game with unwavering enthusiasm, and our band adds excitement and school pride to our games.

Thank you to every student, coach, and sponsor involved. You have not only represented IMS — you’ve represented the entire PSSD community with honor, and we couldn’t be more proud. Keep up the amazing work!

Hands-On Learning Kicks Off a Strong Start to the School Year

The new school year is off to an exciting and engaging start, as students across our schools dive into hands-on learning experiences that bring lessons to life. From interactive science labs to creative STEAM projects and team-building activities, classrooms are full of energy, curiosity, and collaboration.

These early learning opportunities set the tone for a year filled with growth, exploration, and innovation. We’re proud of the enthusiasm our students and teachers have shown and look forward to all that’s ahead!

Parent Teacher Conference

Importance of Parent Teacher Conference

Parent-teacher conferences are a crucial part of a student’s academic journey. These meetings offer a valuable opportunity for parents and teachers to come together to discuss a child’s progress, strengths, and areas that may need support. While brief, these conferences can have a lasting impact on a student’s educational experience.

One of the primary benefits of parent-teacher conferences is improved communication. Teachers provide insights into classroom behavior, academic performance, and social interactions that parents may not see at home. At the same time, parents can share important background information or concerns that may affect their child's learning.

These conferences also promote a team approach to education. When parents and teachers work together, students are more likely to stay motivated and engaged. This collaboration helps create a consistent support system between home and school, which is essential for student success.

Ultimately, parent-teacher conferences empower families to be active participants in their child’s education. When everyone is informed and aligned, students are better positioned to thrive both academically and personally.

Look for information from your child's teacher on scheduling your appointment. We look forward to seeing you on September 25th!
