Principal's Notes Week 2

Posted by Jason Scarbrough on 8/12/2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope everyone had a great weekend.  There sure was a lot going on last week with ballgames, the county fair, first week of school, etc.  Not to mention the escaped convict that kept our school on a “Soft Lock Down” for two days.

For parent information: We have a couple of different types of lock downs for our school.  The “Soft Lockdown” is when there is a chance of danger in our community.  When directed by Dr. Gerrell or public safety officials, we take the following steps: All exterior doors are checked to make sure they are secure.  Students and staff only enter or exit the front doors.  No students are allowed to leave the safety of the school building during the school day.  No outside play during school hours or eating outside.  Students are accompanied by our school resource office if outside of the building.

A “Hard Lock Down” happens when possible danger is in the area.  Again, Dr. Gerrell or public safety officials notify us of the need, and we take the following steps: Students will remain in classrooms or other secure areas of the building.  All interior and exterior doors are locked.  No one is allowed to enter the building or to leave the building until we are notified that the danger is not present.

This week we should be settling in to some sense of normalcy for the school week.  Our car rider line should also start running a bit smoother too.

I encourage parents to take time to look at the web pages on our school site of your child’s teachers and keep up with what they are doing in class.  As always, if you have questions or concerns please let me know.

If you are a Facebook user, please take the time to like our Inman Middle School page and our Inman PAC page. We try to keep these updated frequently with the latest information.
