    IMS Parent Email Week5                                                                                          Aug. 31, 2021

It seems we have settled in as well as we can at this point of the school year and under our current situation.  We have several students and a few staff out sick, but overall, we have been holding our own.  Our attendance numbers this week have been up some from last week.  Please encourage your children to wear a mask to protect themselves and their families.

    Parents remember drop-off/pickup

    - 6th-grade is in front of the gym.

-7th grade is by the cafeteria door.

-8th grade is by the entrance to the tornado shelter.

*Note: Our car rider line has been extra busy this last week.  If parents could wait until 3:00 to 3:05 to leave their house or place of employment, the car line would not be as congested at 3 in the afternoon.  Once folks stop trying to be the first in line for pick up, the line will begin to move faster for everyone.

    7th Grade State Required Immunizations

7th-grade students need to turn in immunization certificates as soon as possible. Contact our School Nurse, Ms. Mary Grace Bean, if you have questions.

Temperature Checks and Intentional Distancing Continue

We continue to do temperature checks on all students, and the PSSD School Board voted to require all students and employees to wear their masks.   Along with these measures, we attempt to limit the number of student contacts each student has during the school day.   These steps seem to have benefited most of the school; however, we have had a class or two that seemed to be hit pretty hard with absences before the masking requirement.

We ask parents to provide medical documentation of positive tests and notes from medical professionals regarding in-home contacts leading to student quarantines.  We appreciate your assistance in keeping our school community safe while we provide quality instruction to all of our students.

Here is the athletic schedule for the rest of the next week and other important dates:

We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Unfortunately, we continue to get reports of a couple of students every day testing positive for covid.  In most cases, the source can be traced back to a family member or another close contact. However, when students are wearing masks, it is much less likey to spread the virus, and if the infected person and the contact are both masked, there is no need for the contact person to quarantine.

    Temperature Checks Start Monday

IMS Parent Email Week 2                                                                              Aug. 08, 2021

It was a blessing to see our students last week.  Nothing makes a teacher happier than to see their students in person, face to face. (socially distanced of course).  As we begin week 2, we have many activities going.  Make sure to look at the bottom of this note for this week's plans.

    Parents remember drop-off/pickup

    - 6th-grade is in front of the gym.

-7th grade is by the cafeteria door.

-8th grade is by the entrance to the tornado shelter.

    Clothes Closet Needs

At IMS, we have a Clothes Closet we use to help students and to pull clothes from if a child is unable to be compliant in their dress.  We could use the following items: IMS Tee Shirts and IMS Hoodies.  So, before you throw out old spirit wear, please bring it by the school to help fellow Bulldogs.

Due to the increased Covid spread in our area, we have tightened down on a few things in the building this week—the following steps were implemented today to reduce the risk of spreading Covid at IMS.

    1.  All settings will have assigned seating and will be implemented in all school settings.
    2. Homerooms will attend PE and STEAM as a group and remain from other homerooms.
    3. Students' seats and tables will be separated as far apart as possible.
    4. Homerooms will travel through the hallways to limit contact between students in different homerooms or Teams.
    5. Surfaces will continue to be cleaned after each class with disinfectant.

Here is the athletic schedule for this week:

Monday, August 9 IMS Softball vs Dresden                                                   5:00 PM

IMS Soccer @ Huntingdon       6:30 PM (Note Time Change)

Tuesday, August 10  IMS Softball @ Huntingdon                            5:00 PM

Wednesday, August 11  IMS Parent Action Committee Meeting 10 AM in the conference room

Thursday, August 12 IMS Football @Brighton 6:30 PM

IMS Softball vs Gibson Co        5:30 PM

IMS Soccer vs Trenton            6:00 PM

I want to thank all of our parents for being so understanding as we work through the beginning of the school year.  I know things have been confusing at times, but please remember that every decision and plan we make are student-centered.  We love our students, parents, and community.  We are delighted to start our school year no matter the circumstances we find ourselves in at this time.
