    Dear Parents/Guardians,

Last week went extremely well, and we are anticipating another busy and smooth week here at IMS.

Fall Pictures are scheduled for August,27th, so 6th and 7th graders look sharp!  Eighth graders will be having their tux and drape pictures made, so parents if you would like to help out, please contact the PAC Facebook page and let them know you want to assist.

Last Friday we had our 1st Fire Drill, and we were very pleased at how everyone exited the building.  We will have another one soon to satisfy our requirements and records.  Parents if you would like to know more about how we keep our students safe, please feel free to contact me at any time, and I will be glad to explain our procedures to you and welcome your input.

Seventh Grade parents please keep in mind that your child has to have their immunizations updated to attend 7th grade in the state of Tennessee.  If you have not had a chance to take care of these updates, please do so quickly.

If you are a Facebook user, please take the time to like our Inman Middle School page and our Inman PAC page. We try to keep those updated frequently with the latest information.

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope everyone had a great weekend.  There sure was a lot going on last week with ballgames, the county fair, first week of school, etc.  Not to mention the escaped convict that kept our school on a “Soft Lock Down” for two days.

For parent information: We have a couple of different types of lock downs for our school.  The “Soft Lockdown” is when there is a chance of danger in our community.  When directed by Dr. Gerrell or public safety officials, we take the following steps: All exterior doors are checked to make sure they are secure.  Students and staff only enter or exit the front doors.  No students are allowed to leave the safety of the school building during the school day.  No outside play during school hours or eating outside.  Students are accompanied by our school resource office if outside of the building.

A “Hard Lock Down” happens when possible danger is in the area.  Again, Dr. Gerrell or public safety officials notify us of the need, and we take the following steps: Students will remain in classrooms or other secure areas of the building.  All interior and exterior doors are locked.  No one is allowed to enter the building or to leave the building until we are notified that the danger is not present.

This week we should be settling in to some sense of normalcy for the school week.  Our car rider line should also start running a bit smoother too.

I encourage parents to take time to look at the web pages on our school site of your child’s teachers and keep up with what they are doing in class.  As always, if you have questions or concerns please let me know.

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are off to a fantastic start here at IMS.  We hope your child is enjoying the start of the school year, and we ask that you encourage them to get involved and stay involved.  Soon, we will begin offering a second bus route in the afternoon for some of our students that will be staying after school for various activities. Shortly after that, we will start our after school tutoring, but we will keep you updated as dates are set.

Our Drop-off and Pick-up procedures have worked very well so far.  Sixth grade parents, once the doors of the school are open at 7:40 in the morning, please drop your students off at the bike rack by the cafeteria or in front of the school if no buses are present. We will try to always have an adult in front of the gym every morning until the 7:40 bell rings.

Each week I will attempt to send out a brief email, so all parents will know what is going on here at IMS.  I am certain that I will not have everything listed every week, but I will do my best to let everyone know what is happening.

If you are a Facebook user, please take the time to like our Inman Middle School page and our Inman PAC page. We try to keep those updated frequently with the latest information.
