It just doesn't seem possible that it's already May. This school year will be over way too soon. I think it's going by so quickly because there are so many exciting things that happen every day-- so, seems like you just get started and then it's time to load up to go home again.
Just over the past week we've had TCAP testing in 2nd grade, Box Top winners luncheons, Spelling Bee's, Muffins with Mom, and first graders hanging out at campsites reading with friends.Rhea kids work hard-- but always find time for a little fun along the way.
Speaking of fun-- our Pre-School students will be in for fun days next week on their end-of-year field trip. We will have our last Streets event for this year on Tuesday at 5:00 at Inman. HCHS Seniors will take a Graduation Walk at Rhea on Thursday as they reminisce about their early years of elementary school in PSSD. This will be the last walk down those hallways for former Rhea students . The building as we know it now will soon be gone. It's a bittersweet event for many... lots of memories remain but we will soon be making new memories in a brand new facility. I will keep you posted as things begin to happen. So, check back often for building updates.
Finally, Reading Celebration will take place on Friday, May 12th. Due to limited parking and space, we won't be able to have parents as our guests this year at Reading Celebration, but we hope that you will join us for an Awards Day on May 19th. We are staggering the times for each grade level to allow for ample parking. Again, due to limited space, if you want to have lunch with your child, please plan for a day other than May 12rh or May 19th, but hang in there... It won't be long until we are back to "normal"-- whatever that means. ;-)
I'm sad that my current second graders will be leaving me behind to go to PES. This group was my first KG class at Rhea and I''ve kind of become attached to them and their familes. So, let's make each and every day count until May 23rd, starting now.
Here we go-
