    IMS Parent Email

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have had a great return to school, and other than face masks and the smell of hand sanitizer, everything is somewhat normal.  Currently, we have not had to do any Covid-19 quarantining, and only one of our staff members has a confirmed case.

    REPORT CARDS

Report cards will be sent home next week on Wednesday, January 13.  Please be on the lookout for them.  If your child is struggling in any of their classes, we ask you to reach out to the school and talk about how we can help your child.  It has been a tough first semester, but we do not want any of our students to fail. We will do anything we reasonably can to help our students strive for excellence.

Many of our students are doing exceptionally well this school year, but others are struggling.  We have a few students who are still receiving online instruction that are having difficulty staying caught up with their work.  If your child is receiving online education and not doing well in their classes, I suggest you consider sending them back for face-to-face instruction for this second semester.  Remember, we are doing everything we can to keep our students safe, and it seems to be working well.

VIRTUAL STUDENTS BEGIN A NEW SCHEDULE THIS SEMESTER

Our Virtual Students will begin having scheduled classes to follow as the new semester begins.  Mr. Stutzman and many of the teachers have been working hard to contact all parents whose children receive virtual learning.  If you have questions, please contact the school, Mr. Stutzman, or your child’s homeroom teacher.

NEW FACULTY AND STAFF AND MOVES

We have a few new faces here at IMS for the second semester.  Ms. Kimberly Chisholm is a social worker with Carey Counseling.  Under a state grant, Ms. Chisholm will be based here at IMS and working primarily to educate our staff and work with our students and their families.  Having a social worker here in our school has been a long-term goal for our district, and we are very blessed to have this opportunity.

The other new face is Mr. Chance Crain.  Mr. Crain is taking over for Mr. Corbin.  He is a local fellow that has had some great experiences out west and has come home to be with family.  He is a fantastic educator with a lot of experience and will positively impact our students.

Finally, Mr. Corbin has moved from teaching 6th grade science on Team A to teaching in the STEM Lab with Mr. Haley.  We know this is a great move and will strengthen all of our science programs and will bring the expertise to transition our STEM program to a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) program.

We are excited about our new opportunities and future endeavors.
