Happy Thursday kiddos!  As I think I say every week, time sure does fly.  I have a couple of pics to share with you today of my chicks.  They are growing up fast, as are you I'm sure.  I just thought, I probably will not recognize you when I see you next.  I bet you've grown so much!  That's one of the things I love about working at PES.  Students come in to our school, seemingly like small kiddos and leave us as pre-teens.  There are lots of changes and growth at PES, both academically and physically.  It is so neat to be a witness to your growth.  Well...hope you enjoy the pics...and hope you have a great Thursday!!  Love and hugs, Ms. Olivia

Happy Wednesday students and families.  Well it is a rainy day, I believe the power even flickered on and off during the night.  As I got up this morning, I went around to reset the clocks.  Do you ever find yourself redoing something?  How do you feel when you have to redo?  Sometimes, it makes me feel frustrated or anxious, espcially when I felt good about how it was before.  You know, through this "new" end of school, I seemed to be redoing a lot of things initially.  I was trying hard to figure out the best way to stay in contact with you or help you continue to learn.  All the redoing process has actually been rewarding.  I've learned a great deal, in fact, several things that I now want to redo in how I teach in the classroom.  All that to say, sometimes "redoing" leads to growth and learning.  As students, you are probably used to redoing school work at times.  Your teachers want you to do this in order for you to learn.  I feel like through part of this staying at home process, I was like a student again.  It was hard at first, but as it is almost over, I'm glad I made some changes and learned some lessons.  I hope that you have been able to learn some meaningful lessons while you've been home learning.  One thing, however, has not changed.  I miss you all tremendously and can't wait for us to be learning in our classroom again.  Love and hugs, Ms. Olivia

Happy Tuesday...I'm at school today and missing each of you.  I am cleaning up our room, putting away your folders and binders for next year and getting ready for your return.  Miss you so much.  I've attached a little video of our room, as we left it in March.  It was sort of sad to come in yesterday, it was sort of like time had stopped on that day.  However, we will be together again soon...and for those of you moving on to Inman...a great school awaits you!  Love and hugs, Ms. Olivia

Happy Monday!  I hope that you all had a great weekend and you spent a little time celebrating Mother's day with the special women in your lives.  I got a chance to see my sister and my mom, as well as my mother-in-law, so I had a fantastic weekend with all the wonderful moms in my life.  I will actually be at school today, cleaning up our reading room and starting to close out our school year.  I know it will be sad to be in the building without you, but so look forward to the fall when we are all together again.  I hope you have a wonderful Monday!!  Love and hugs, Ms. Olivia

Hey students and families!  Happy Friday to you.  I cannot believe how quickly the weeks seem to pass.  You know, it is funny that when this whole "safer-at-home" order began back in March the days seemed to drag by.  Now, as April has came and went and now May is here, things seem to be moving so much faster.  That is very similar to how the regular school year feels.  It is kind of comforting in a weird way.  It is raining today, and a big cool down in coming tonight and tomorrow night, so here's a little tip to help out your moms...help her to cover up the plants tonight before you go to bed.  That way nothing will get bit by the frost (if it comes).  I know she'd appreciate your help, and after all...Mother's Day is right around the corner.  Speaking of Mother's Day, be sure to let your Mom know how much you love her!  I've attached a picture of me and my mom.  Hope you have a fantastic weekend.  Love and hugs, Ms. Olivia

Hey students and families!  It's Thursday...hard to believe for me, these weeks are just flying by.  I'm wondering what you have planned today?  It is sunny, but a bit cooler today.  Do you have any pets?  I have a dog, Evey (which you've seen) and a cat, Pella.  They are not really friends, which is both sad and funny.  Evey, who is only 3 lbs, thinks she can rule over the cat, which is three times her size.  She toys with her, it's kinda funny.  I think the cat is really in control.  What about your pets?  Do they like to play together?  I hope that you have a great day playing and learning!  Love and hugs, Ms. Olivia

Good morning families and students.  Hope you are having a good morning and looking forward to a great day ahead.  It is a bit cooler this morning, which I noticed when I went to take my dog out and feed the chicks this morning.  The grass is covered with dew, but the sun is up and shining. I look forward to the day ahead.  I am excited to ride buses today, to deliver lunches and school packets to some of you.  I love doing that each week, when I get to see some smiling faces!  Enjoy your Wednesday, I hope it's wonderful.  Love and hugs, Ms. Olivia

Good morning all!  Today is May 5th...some people know this date is special because it is Cinco de Mayo.  I know it is special because it is my Mom's birthday.  You know, dates become reminders of how special people are to us, don't they?  I think I will forever remember mid-March, April and May of 2020 as the time when we were apart and how hard it was and how we had to learn all kinds of new things.  These times will forever be a reminder to you, you will have emotions tied to them.  You will have vivid memories of things you did, and how you spent your time.  I have memorable dates like that from my childhood:  the day the Space Shuttle exploded, I was in 5th grade.  The day of the Oklahoma City bombing, I was in my second year of college.  Or the date of 911...I was holding my new born baby boy, who was just 2 months old.  This time we've spent will forever link us and you will always remember it.  So, in thinking about dates, how do you plan to spend the rest of your "at-home" school time?  Do you plan to keep growing as readers and learners, or do you plan to start summer a little early this year?  Whichever, I hope that you will still take a little time to learn something new each day...or at least try.  I promise, you will always remember it if you do!  Love and hugs, Ms. Olivia

Hey kiddos and families!  Happy Monday to you.  I'm excited about this first week of May and all that it may bring.  Things around our neck of the woods are starting to slowly reopen up.  How does that make you feel?  Are you excited about some of the restrictions easing?  Or does it make you feel uneasy?  Well, I have sort of mixed emotions.  I'm excited to be able to get out a bit and see family that I've not seen in a while, but still will probably not go out too much.  As things begin to return to a "new" normal, what will your take away be?  Did you learn something new about yourself during this time?  Did you master a new skill, or at least attempt one?  Did you find yourself reading more, exploring new things, or sleeping more than normal?  I'm asking myself these same questions...what did I learn from all this time in separation.  I know there are many lessons to be learned, so just remember to take some time to reflect on things you learned.  Think about if there are new behaviors or attitudes that need to become part of your new normal.  Or things you will be ready to let go of as we begin to come out of our "safer-at-home" status in the coming weeks and months.  Hope you are able to explore something new, even today.  Love and hugs, Ms. Olivia
