Gifted Education Certification

Students who meet the criteria for certification as gifted must meet the guidelines established by the Tennessee State Department of Education.   Once students meet the criteria, an Individualized Educational Program (I.E.P.) is written to enhance the student’s educational experience.  Teachers and staff of

                                       

Guidelines

Ř      An I.Q. score that meets state criteria.

Ř 96% or better in an individual achievement test or TCAP assessment

Ř Creativity score that meets the state criteria

Ř School Performance score that meets the state criteria

* Placement in the Gifted Program is not determined by the student’s grades.  However, grades are an excellent indicator to the classroom teacher, that the student could possibly meet Tennessee State Qualifications.
