1.   First observation is scheduled by principal and teacher.

 

2.   Teacher completes the PreConference Interview Protocol form.

 

3.   Teacher utilizes the PreConference Interview Protocol form to share with principal during pre-conference; documentation will be made with the protocol document.

 

4.   Teacher submits lesson plan of instruction to be observed to principal. Use this plan. Or this one.

 

5.   Principal observes instruction and documents with the Stage 1 Rubric.

 

6.   Teacher completes Teacher Lesson Reflection and collect any other appropriate evidences in preparation for the post conference.  (Click here for a tutorial on entering evidences as artifacts into teacher compass.)

 

7.   Post-Conference is scheduled with the teacher within five school days. The TIGER coach may also be invited.  For discussion: the Teacher Lesson Reflection and principal interviews teacher with the Baseline Observation Conference, Interview Protocol to collect evidence in the areas of planning/preparation and professional responsibility; principal reviews any related evidences.

 

8.   The Baseline Growth Plan is completed by the teacher and principal with strength and weaknesses to develop.  The plan will guide the instructional coach in assisting the teacher with action steps for growth.

 

9.   The teacher will be observed a minimum of six times (90 minutes) per school year, ideally three per semester:

·        1st Semester: principal conducts a full observation that is announced (see step 1)

·        1st Semester: TIGER coach conducts 2 unannounced walkthrough observations

·        2nd Semester: TIGER coach conducts 2 unannounced walkthrough observations

·        Final 2nd Semester: principal conducts a full observation that is unannounced

 

10.               Teacher begins completing the Individual Professional Development Log to be submitted at the Summative conference.

 

11.               At the end of the process, the principal will review all evidence of effectiveness and ensure the process has been followed.  The principal will complete the Summative Evaluation for the School Year which includes an overall qualitative proficiency level, a quantitative score and recommended stage for next year. The principal will document the teacher’s overall effectiveness rating (1-5).

 

12.               The principal will hold a summative conference with the teacher.

 

TIGER is a living document and process.  The process could be modified from year to year to better suit the needs of all parties involved.
