Story in a Bag

"Story in a Bag" is offered to parents of children who will be three years old by September 30th. Each month, September through May, a book and additional story related activities will be "bagged" and made available at the Family Enrichment Center, which is located at Rhea School, 115 South Wilson Street, Paris, TN. Activities will include such things as: story questions, vocabulary emphasis, sequence pictures, simple puzzles, coloring pages and additional story reinforcements. Books will be returned each month when new materials are picked up. We feel this will be an enriching way for parents to spend time reading and sharing special age appropriate activities with their preschooler. It will also help establish an early connection between families and our school system.

A National School Board goal for America's children states that "All children in America will start school ready to learn," and includes in its objectives that "Every parent in America will be a child's first teacher and devote time each day helping his or her preschool child learn; parents will have access to the training and support they need."

The goal of the Enrichment Center is"

o    To provide the materials and training necessary to the PSSD parents for kindergarten preparation

o    To promote parents as their child's first and most important teachers
