Below you will find a list of the chapters from our science book.  Under the chapter title you will find:

First Semester

 

Chapter 1 “All About Living Things”

 

-Recognize that organisms use their senses to interact with and explore their environment. Lesson 1

-Recognize the basic needs of all living things are: food, water, sunlight, and air.  Lessons 2 & 3

 

Chapter 2 “A Look at Plants”

 

-Living things have features that help them to survive in different environments.  Lesson 3

-Recognize the environment in which an organism is typically found.  Lesson 3

-Living things are made up of smaller parts.  Lesson 4

-Recognize the differences among plants of the same kind.  Lessons 3 thru 8

Chapter 3 “A Look at Plants”

Chapter 5 “The Sky”

 

-The sun is the main source of the earth’s heat and light energy.  Lesson 1

-Describe the effect of the sun’s heat on different materials. Lesson 1

-Observe and illustrate the position of the sun at different times of the day.  Lesson 1

-Recognize different objects appear in the day and nighttime sky.  Lesson 1 & 2

Chapter 6 “Weather and Seasons”

 

-Associate temperature, precipitation, and wind conditions with various types of weather. Lesson 4

-Realize that weather is associated with temperature, precipitation, and wind conditions and can be measured using tools and instruments.  Lesson 5

-Identify the appropriate tool for measuring temperature, precipitation, and wind speed/direction. Lesson 5
