SPELLING LIST

TO BE POSTED ON A FRIDAY…ONE WEEK BEFORE A SPELLING TEST IS GIVEN

Your child's spelling grade comes from the grade received from numbers 1-15 of the spelling list. Please work on these each night. Some suggestions for studying these words are:

1. Use a plate of sugar….write your words using your finger.

2. Use popcorn or dried beans and form the letters of each word. (if you spell the word correctly using popcorn…a reward could be to eat the word)

3. While jumping rope…spell your words out loud.

4. Use finger paint to write out words. Draw pictures of the words. (illustrations)

5. Write your words using a magic marker or different colored crayons on a paper sack.

6. Write a word on a strip of paper…Cut the letters apart , mix them up….then put the letters in correct order to spell the word.

7. Write each spelling word on an index card using large letters. Place the cards on your mirror or door facing in your room (with your parents' permission). Look at the card…close your eyes and spell the word on the card.

8. See how many spelling words you can find in a newspaper. Cut out the word and glue it on a card or piece of paper….entitled Word Search…

9. Form as many spelling words as you can using play-dough or clay.

10. Play a mind game with your parents…Have them give clues about a word. You have to guess the word and then spell it for them.

12. Use bathtub paint to write your spelling words on the inside of your tub when you take a bath.
