Meeting Minutes: April 24, 2012
·
Band Director, Lucy Presson
explained about a scheduling conflict regarding the previously scheduled award
ceremony on May 10, 2012. This ceremony
is now rescheduled for May
15, 2012 at 6 pm in Inman’s Cafeteria and remains “a pot-luck dessert award
celebration”. The band will be
participating with the annual PES outreach on May 7, 2012 at 1:30 pm and the required dress will be white
and black. All uniforms and school
issued instruments must be returned by May 10, 2012. If any
parts of these are missing please contact Mrs. Presson
for specific replacement prices.
·
The meeting then turned to the up
coming Chattanooga trip. Mrs. Presson explained that the students would eat lunch early
at school on May 4. Chaperoning parents would need to be at the
school no later than 12 noon. Due to space limitations each traveling
person is limited to only one suitcase to be put under the bus and only one
carry-on bag. Everyone was encouraged to
bring at least two pairs of shoes with one pair being a good pair of walking
shoes. Some travelers have not turned in
their notarized medical release forms.
These notarized forms are due by April 30, 2012.
·
Mrs. Presson explained
that the Fort Donelson performance was videoed and
there was interest about posting it to YouTube and on other web sites. This video would not be posted if anyone objects
to it. So any disapproval would need to
be submitted to Mrs. Presson by May 1, 2012. Memos were made available for pick up.
·
Mrs. Presson then opened
a discussion regarding the band’s trailer.
It sits idle most of the time and would remain “unwatched” in the
school’s parking lot over the summer. A
discussion continued of the possibility of turning it over to PSSD. Then there were questions: Would it still be available to us when
needed? Would PSSD have the right to
sell it? Could PSSD just house it for us
during the summer? Mrs. Presson would inquire about PSSD housing it for us and
would explore other options for the summer as well. The discussion was then tabled for a future
meeting.
·
Parents of students traveling to Chattanooga stayed
behind to meet briefly about some participants overpaying. The average overpayment was approximately $30.00
per person and this money would be handed out to each participant on the bus
that had overpaid. Additional medical
forms would need to be turned in by April 30, 2012 stating any prescription medications or OTC
medicines the participant takes regularly and authorizing any general OTC
medicines to be given as needed.
