*This week we will study ccvc and ccvcc words. The vowel is short.
Brag, brad, grip, grill, grin, glad, glum, blot, blab.
Short vowel rule- When there is one vowel
in a word and it comes at the beginning or in the middle of the word, it is
short.
At this
point in the year students should be able to spell the words by listening to
the sounds, not memorizing the words.

*Please sign the planner each night to show your child has completed the homework. Please make sure all books are returned.
Ask your child questions about the book
they read. Who? Where? What? Why? How?
*We will review symmetry.
*We will learn
about odd and even numbers
*We will practice
addition and subtraction.
*We will practice
short vowel rules and focus on reading comprehension.
*We will practice
long vowel rules.
*We will learn to
use commas in dates, and words in a series.
*We will review
antonyms, and synonyms.
*We will write
about Martin Luther King Jr.

each night reading and 5 minutes practicing math facts.
Addition facts should be
memorized now.
Record the homework books
on the book log in the back of the planner.
Monday- Read your book. Memorize math
facts.
Tuesday- Read your book. Memorize math
facts.
Wednesday- Read your
book. Memorize math facts.
Thursday- Read
your book. Study spelling and word wall words for Friday tests.
